THE EXPERIENCE
January 2008
Sita Ram!
I'm back in India and injoying the beautiful weather and the company of friends and teachers!
I've been enjoying my mala beads and the beautiful sound that it evokes for me when I am preparing for Mantra Meditation and Chanting. Also the sound of laughter and women folk sitting around joking and just hanging-out soothes my soul!!!
A blend of the old and the new has inspired my recent visit to Sri Lanka to meet my in-laws...
The Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka are exquisite, taking me back to my early involvement with Buddhism. I clearly remember one of the Rimpoches at the monastery explaining the connectin between the two, Hinduism and Buddhism, and I clearly remember, not understanding it at all. He looked at me and, "one day you will", and as I stood there listening to this rhythmical Sanskrit chanting, 20 years later......................................I understood.

............................................................Temples have permeated my travels over the last year.
I have been so inspired and encouraged by people I have met recently and also by my old friends in the Ashtanga Yoga community.
On a recent visit to New York, I had the opportunity to visit 'Eddie Stern's School and was overjoyed to see the 'new temples' that grace the space'.
Saki, my housekeeper has just finished her work and as I glanced up to say Namaste to her, it bought tears to my eyes to watch her bless my home as she left.
